EA announces “Ultima Forever”

In the latest of “spitting in the hopes of classic games fans”, EA has decided to announce their latest attempt to bring back the Ultima series as a cartoony Free-To-Play RPG developed by Bioware, in which you get the choice to… either play as a fighter or as a mage.

Ultima is considered to be the grand-daddy of wRPGs, with Ultima VII being one of the landmarks in gaming. Ultima has been known for its rich lore, expansive storyline and epic quests, and now it sounds more and more like the latest installment will be some facebook game or something similar.

Thank god for modern gaming. Don’t get me wrong, there are still great classic wRPGs in the making, but this kind of news can be really depressing sometimes.
