The Official "What Are You Playing?" Thread (Post Screens)

After around 33-35 hours im getting pretty tired of Rise of The Ronin, and I think I still have a ways to go. Im not sure if I should fully blame the game and its repetitive content for that or If I just already have open world fatigue from the other big games I played this year, like Infinite Wealth and FF7 Rebirth.

I won't be playing anything for months or close to a year probably, stuck in bumfuck nowhere Montenegro in the middle of endless mountains, imagine Rocky IV's training location without the snow (yet)

There are cheaper ways to torture yourself. Im pretty sure razor blades go for $1-$2.

I finally finished Aegis Rim     I want my fucking 40 hours back. I can't believe how absolutely SHIT that ending was. I couldn't be more disappointed right now.   I was

Dave the Diver is an absolute banger. Loving it. Hard to explain but I'd say if you enjoyed something like Golf Story (imo Dave the Diver is already better) then you will like this. Different mechanics but very similar style of game where you have this core mechanic and loop with this story happening and more and more gameplay elements being added constantly. Can not recommend enough and that's based on like 3-4h.

I wish I could get into that game. It was one of my quickest steam refunds, I just found something about it to be really off putting.

I'd say give it another go man, especially if you gave it up very early. So many new gameplay elements get added like practically every game day that the game a few hours in isn't even close to what it is early on.

But it is still in essence the dive and shop loop, so that part does has to be fun for you to like it.

I think I didn't enjoy the actual diving gameplay especially since its all randomly generated. I like management games where the content is handcrafted, like Spiritfarer and Dragon Quest Builders 2

40 hours into Rise of The Ronin and with no end in sight I think I might drop it when Stellar Blade releases. The game is many ways AC: Japan which would be an incredible compliment a decade ago. But nowadays it just feels dated and bloated and the setting isn't enough to carry it all the way through.

Yes, it's shit like we told you.

Dude... if you're not willing to finish it... it's trash.

Nah there's just too many long fucking games nowdays. Its the same reason why I didn't finish BG3 last year. I don't have the patience or attention span anymore to be able to dedicate so much time to a single game especially when there's others releasing on the horizon.

This is insincere coming from a person who plays damn near every game that's released.. :reg:

You have the time Twinblade.  If these games were as good as you said they were, you'd have finished them up promptly.  You're literally wasting your time playing games the way you are.

New games aren't going anywhere... they'll be there when you finish the last one you started.

Yeah I like to play many games, which is why I don't want every game to be 50+ hours long. If that was the case and I committed to finishing them, I would be playing a fraction of the games i'd want to play.

Circled back to Prince of Persia which I dropped at some point, maybe when FF came out, I forget.

Anyway, game is awesome - I just started over since I wasn't terribly far in anyway. Think I'm about halfway through now - just a very well made Metroidvania but where it really shines is the movement, the loadout you get is great and everything is super snappy - leads to some amazing platforming sections.

Dave the Diver continues to exceed expectations. Having an absolute blast with it. Haven't touched DD2 since it came out

Such a good game, goes a lot deeper than I'd ever expect given the premise.

Yeah this is the most impressive part. I'm probably over 15h in and it is still continually giving me new mechanics. They expand on such a simply gameplay loop so well. Honestly can't think of another game that drop feeds so much content and game elements like this.

Finished Stasis Bone Totem

Damnnnnn!

What an awesome surprise this ended up being. I can't believe I glazed over this game so many times since the original release last year, all because of the dumb title.

i'd say maybe 15% of the puzzles are kind of bullshit and illogical but everything else about the game is great. Atmosphere, Characters, story, and the fucked up setting and imagery. The game is dark in ways I wasn't expecting but was pleasantly surprised by.

I don't want to go into more detail than that because I went into the game almost blind and I think thats the best way to experience it. All in all I think this is the best adventure game i've played since SOMA.
