i'm going to try roguebook. slay, as cool as it is, isn't as instantly gratifying. i need that dopamine lol.

Yeah definitely give it a go. It's constantly making me drop Dragon's Dogma 2 to play a run tbh. It's core card gameplay is the same as Slay but the structure of the game is a little cooler imo.

I won't be playing anything for months or close to a year probably, stuck in bumfuck nowhere Montenegro in the middle of endless mountains, imagine Rocky IV's training location without the snow (yet)

I finally finished Aegis Rim     I want my fucking 40 hours back. I can't believe how absolutely SHIT that ending was. I couldn't be more disappointed right now.   I was

The amount of shit going on in Control during fights is next level compared to anything else ive seen.   I also started playing Witcher 3 again. Damn this game is fucking awesome. It still l

Ghostrunner was pretty good. Boss fights were pretty eh and there's some checkpoints that probably could have had the first 10-15 seconds of traversal cut out before a tough combat section, but was a lot of fun getting my ass kicked for a bit.

I really wanted to try hardcore mode but I didn't realize you have to start it via level select and starting a new game would remove your ability to play hardcore mode. In the game's defense, the game has a prompt telling you but I was just mashing through the prompts to start a new game with zero expectation that I'd cut myself off from something just by starting a new game lol. That and the lack of mid-level save points are some interesting design decisions.

So I've been mostly positive in regards to Rise of The Ronin, but I just hit the 25 hour mark and its issues are becoming more apparent

- I recently got to the 2nd map, which is a very neat setting but they just litter it with the same repetitive collectibles and side distractions from the first map. I cleared out most of that first map, but I definitely do not have the desire to go through many more hours of that same stuff again.

- There is wayyyyy too much loot. Like seriously. At first I thought it was cool especially since it all changes how you look, but every little thing you do in the game seems to 'reward' you with multiple pieces of loot.....but 90% of everything you collect is worse than what you already have equipped, so you spend a lot of time either selling it or disassembling it for materials.

-The main item you use to heal, Medicinal Pills, can only be found and not purchased. if you're low on those pills when you get to one of the game's many boss fights with no options to replenish them, well then good luck cause you're kind of fucked and will probably need to back out of the mission to collect more.

- Most of the missions boil down to infiltrating some kind of base or settlement and killing the same few enemies inhabiting those areas.

-The english voice acting can be pretty weak, even for some of the game's main characters.

So yeah I can see why this got a lot of 7s.

I have 0 intentions of playing any flat screen games.

This is a huge issue with ALL Team Ninja games. I have no idea why they carry over their horrendous loot system between games and who actually enjoys it. Nioh, Wo Long and now this all have this trash system where 99% of the loot is totally useless. Just a huge waste of time

One of the worst thing about Nioh for sure. You end up with so much trash that actually good pieces of equipment gets lost in the shuffle.

Yeah definitely. Not to mention just how stupid it is when every enemy in something like NioH is vomitting a rainbow of shit every time they die

It's literally like old school Diablo loot drop. But with every fucking enemy. :D

This is more a problem with new school diablo tbh.

Diablo 2 has a lot of loot but it's very easy to parse what is and isn't worth picking up.

Been playing a ton of season 9 of Project Diablo 2. One of the best fan made mods I can think of and it's really been gaining steam the last few seasons, probably more players online than D2R. They've done a great job expanding on the original game - added a ton of items/crafting, bunch of end game content, some new mechanics (corrupting probably being the big one) and really increasing the build variety by buffing some less powerful abilities. They also do a good job of shifting the meta every season.

Started playing Brotato. It’s like Vampire Survivors, but with guns and a series of 1 minute survival runs. It’s actually perfect for a 5 minute dopamine rush (super arcade-like).  I just don’t have the time for a proper game.

edit: it’s not as good as VS, but it hits the spot. It’s like fast food gaming.

- Bit more Dragon's Dogma 2 but largely my thoughts are the same. Ranges from good to incredibly frustrating.

- Back in to Helldivers 2 and instantly in love with the game again. They've already added a ton of new stuff in the month of so I had stopped playing. Tripled the level cap, new ship modules, new strategmns, new missions plus the game is just ridiculously fun. Finished Suicide tier missions so have access to Impossible now. Some of the most cinematic moments I have ever seen in gaming and none are scripted. Just incredible.

- Roguebook still taking me away from other stuff for a run here and there.

- Randomly started Immortals of Aviuem. Didn't play much but surprised by the production levels. Literally is just a fps game with no guns though lol Seems as typical a 7/10 as you can imagine but can be mindlessly fun.

Dave the Diver is now out on PS5 and has been very keen to try that out so will prob give that a go.
